We are very pleased to invite you to participate of the X Symposium on Ecology, Genetics and Evolution of Drosophila (X SEGED) to be held in the SESC Estalagem Ouro Preto Hotel (Ouro Preto, Brazil), from November 6 to 9, 2017.

The SEGED reunites most of the Brazilian researchers working on Drosophilids and also an increasing number of participants from abroad. The meeting has been continuously organized biennially since 1999 and is an exceptional opportunity to showcase and discuss the latest research in the area and to establish research collaborations. We also welcome applications from students to attend the meeting and present a poster.

The meeting will take place in the “SESC Estalagem Ouro Preto Hotel”, located a few minutes away from the historical city of Ouro Preto (Black Gold) in the “Serra do Espinhaço” range of mountains. Ouro Preto was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO because of its outstanding Baroque architecture. The city was founded at the end of the 17th century and was the focal point of the gold rush during Brazil’s golden age in the 18th century. Today, it retains its urban nucleus built in the colonial period, including a diversity of civic and religious buildings marked by refined aesthetic and architectural qualities.
